What is the NYC Open Data Meetup Group?
NYC Open Data Meetup group is devoted to Make Open Data Useful. It started out in 2013 as a meet-up group bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Government, Design.
What is the Goal of the Group?
The goal of the group is to use big data technology and visualization to tell stories about the public open data. We run frequent workshops and talks as a Data Science School and use NYC open data as our first choice. Find us at NYC Open Data Meetup Group.
This site is the main website for NYC Open Data Meetup group. All workshop material will be made available here.
Our data driven mayor and his followers have opened up 1100+ data sets. Take a quick look of Socrata Platform...also take a look at our sister group NYC Data Science Academy Meetup Group: Our sister group offers classes in series of five or more sessions, in the form of 3 hours of teaching and one hour of hands-on work with TAs on popular topics taught by proven instructors from the NYC Open Data Meetup.

Vivian Zhang
Vivian is the CTO and School Director of NYC Data Science Academy and CTO of SupStat. With her extensive experience working in the data science field, she developed expertise in multiple programming languages, including R, Python, Hadoop, and Spark. In August 2016, Forbes ranked her amongst one of the nine women leading the pack in data analytics. In 2013, she created the NYC Open Data Meetup group, which stands as one of the largest data science communities offering meetups, conferences, and a weekly newsletter. In her spare time, Vivian enjoys meeting people and sharing her motivational stories with our students and other professionals
