September 18, 2019, New York: NYC Data Science’s Deep Learning course instructor Jon Krohn will be publishing ‘Deep Learning Illustrated’, a new data science book co-authored by Grant Beyleveld and Aglaé Bassens. It will be published by Pearson’s Addison-Wesley in September 2019. Jon will be presenting a talk at NYC Data Science Academy on October 2, followed by an exclusive book signing event. The event is open to all and attendees will get a chance to win signed copies of Deep Learning Illustrated at the event.
About the Meetup: Deep Learning Illustrated: Book Signing & Course Demo
The talk will serve as an overview of Jon Krohn's upcoming in-person Deep Learning course running from October 19 to December 7, on five Saturdays at NYC Data Science Academy. This course is an introduction to artificial neural networks that brings high-level theory to life with interactive labs featuring TensorFlow 2.0, Keras, and PyTorch — the leading Deep Learning libraries. You can also use the code "DLT2019" to get a 10% discount to the course.

“Almost unknown a few years ago, today, Deep Learning powers countless everyday services from Tesla's Autopilot to Amazon Alexa’s voice recognition and from Google Translate to superhuman ability at elaborate board games,” says Jon Krohn. The course offered at NYC Data Science Academy will empower individuals with no previous understanding of neural networks to build production-ready Deep Learning applications across all of the contemporary families of the approach.
In a book review on Amazon, Deep Learning Course Alumna Joy Rosenstein says, “Jon's book, which I had the chance to sneak preview in his Deep Learning course, is a great resource for anyone trying to learn about machine learning and deep learning. Not only is the book extremely well written, Jon also attaches coding examples in each section of the book which help illustrate all the theory. [It’s a must] have for AI enthusiasts!” She graduated from the Deep Learning course in April 2019.
About the Book: Deep Learning Illustrated
Deep learning is transforming software, facilitating powerful new artificial intelligence capabilities, and driving unprecedented algorithm performance. Deep Learning Illustrated is uniquely intuitive and offers a complete introduction to the discipline’s techniques. Packed with full-color figures and easy-to-follow code, it sweeps away the complexity of building deep learning models, making the subject approachable and fun to learn. World-class instructor and practitioner Jon Krohn—with visionary content from Grant Beyleveld and beautiful illustrations by Aglaé Bassens—presents straightforward analogies to explain what deep learning is, why it has become so popular, and how it relates to other machine learning approaches. Jon teaches his Deep Learning curriculum at the NYC Data Science Academy.
