New York, NY. – November 1st, 2016 - NYC Data Science Academy (NYCDSA) and Domino Data Lab are proud to announce a partnership to train the next generation of data scientists. The partnership will provide data science students with training and access to the tools they’ll need to succeed in the workforce. As part of NYC Data Science Academy’s data science bootcamp, Domino Data Lab’s data scientists will give several guest lectures about real-world data science problems and solutions. Students will also get free access to Domino’s data science platform, with sample projects they can work on to hone their skills.
“We’re very excited about this partnership with Domino Data Lab,” said Vivian Zhang, founder of NYC Data Science Academy. “There is a tremendous need for data scientists who can apply advanced analytics skills to a broad range of problems. At the NYC Data Science Academy, we make sure our students have these skills and can hit the ground running the moment they step out of our classroom. Domino strengthens our offering with an applied data science perspective, and insight into collaborate, reproducible research practices.”
During the 12-week full-time Data Science Bootcamp, students become proficient data scientists using R, Python, Hadoop & Spark as well as the most popular and useful open source packages such as XgBoost, dplyr, ggplot2, Scikit-Learn, and more. The full curriculum for the 12-week NYC Data Science Academy bootcamp includes:
- Data Analysis and Machine Learning using both R and Python
- Production line integration using GitHub, Linux, Sql
- Big data analytic using Hadoop, Spark and its Machine Learning libraries
- Project experience from visual and statistical analyses to supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms
Domino brings unique value to the NYC Data Science Academy program in two ways. First, Domino’s data scientists are experienced in working with corporate data science programs, and can help students understand the transition from academic to applied data science. Also, Domino’s open Data Science Platform supports all the languages and packages students use during the course, so they can spend more time learning and doing, and less time downloading and configuring.
“NYC Data Science Academy is among top ranked bootcamp programs giving people the skills they need to advance their careers in our knowledge-based economy, and they're delivering potential employees to companies who are struggling to hire qualified data scientists,” said Nick Elprin, Co-Founder and CEO of Domino Data Lab. “This is important work, and we're very happy to be able to help them in their mission.”
“We are very excited to see the results of our combined efforts,” said Zhang. “If you’re looking to improve your quantitative and coding skills or you’re a data-passionate geek, come see the effectiveness of this connection for yourself, and apply to the NYC Data Science Academy Bootcamp.”
The upcoming NYC Data Science Academy Data Science Bootcamp begins on January 9, 2017 in New York City. The tuition is $16,000 for the full 12-week program.
