Ben Townson graduated from the New York City Data Science Academy 12-week Data Science Bootcamp on September 23. At NYCDSA he has mastered machine learning and data analysis techniques, complementing more than ten years spent in the finance industry as a quantitative trader and risk manager working for hedge funds focused on high volume and high frequency trading of commodity futures, options, and equities. His project experience at NYCDSA included: an analysis of natural gas production, consumption and pricing; a study of bitcoin markets and currency adoption; prediction of PGA tour success; and building a prediction model for horse racing and betting. Ben is a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he studied mathematics.
